The school exists to facilitate the learning of the exceptional child. Many of our students are in danger of being unsuccessful in school for a variety of reasons, including a wide range of documented learning disabilities, exceptional and at-risk behaviors, underachievement, and other unusual circumstances. It is not unusual for these students to have the inability to function within a traditional classroom setting, have few goals regarding educational and occupational futures, have poor peer/authority relationships, have a pattern of behavior problems, and excessive absenteeism. It is our goal to replace a sense of failure with success, by preparing student for living in the future, and providing them with the skills to become independent and healthy emotionally.

The Education Center School is indeed a school with a difference. After diagnosing each student's needs, the Center prescribes a special program of studies to meet these individual needs. Small classes permit a close and personal relationship between teacher and student. Achievements, as well as, failures and frustrations are shared in a very special way.  The result is an educational environment designed to help each child gain self-respect and confidence through an effective learning experience.

Computers are used in classrooms, as well as, in the Business/Technology Department.  Computers provide students with an awareness of technological advances and instruction in the practical application of computer skills.  Computer aided instruction varies with the learning style and needs of the child and the student’s course of study. Motivation and the ability to work independently are also factors in choosing computer aided programs.Although discipline is present, the atmosphere throughout the classrooms remains homey and informal.  Teachers develop a unique empathy with their students.

Education Center School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), and National Independent Private School Association (NIPSA)..
